The Yacu ‘Rupaj Resort-Spa is at the shore of a 127.5 square miles lake. The lake is formed by five important rivers coming down from the Tucuman mountains and forest vegetation and fauna sorround the lake. The lake is perfect for practicing water sports such as yatching and windsurf, and for going fishing, on photographic tours or sailing.

The Resort is located in a historical area, in which pre-Columbian paintings can still be seen. The old Royal Road to the Alto Peru, a road older than the oldest city in what is today Argentina, passed through these lands.

Within the premises, ruins of an estancia (a ranch) built in the 19th century can be seen. The estancia was built on a spring which was called Vichy due to its therapeutic properties. That old spring was found again and is being presently used for the SPA therapies.

Two towns are sunken in the lake; La Posta de Miraflores (the oldest, from the 15th century) which was later known as Villa Rio Hondo. Church imagery, an old library and a stone related to San Francisco Solano's legend (the legend says that, angry at being denied some water and because part of this donkey's trappings had been stolen, he prophesied that the town would disappear below water) were recovered.

From the "Crepusculario", you will enjoy wonderful dusks, with the sun going down behind the Aconquija chain, a 18.040 ft asl mountain range in Tucuman.
